Mr. McKeever's Science Homework Week of 10/16 - 10/20
Science - Types of Rocks worksheet due Monday 10/23
Dear Parents and Students,

My name is Mr. Kevin McKeever and I will be your child's 6th grade teacher for the upcoming school year. This year will be my fourteenth year of teaching and my ninth year at Franklin Towne Charter Elementary School. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from St. Joseph's University. As an educator, I value my job and look forward to the opportunity that I will have to teach your child all he/she needs to complete by the end of the 2017-2018 school year. Your child's success in my classroom is my number one priority!

In our classroom, we will be very busy with many hands-on activities, collaborative projects, as well as many exciting math, science, and social studies lessons. We have begun using many new programs that should greatly benefit the students' understanding of the topics covered in class. Some programs students will be using in 6th grade are the GoMath series for math, our science program, Science Fusion, and our Social Studies program, History Alive. Students returning to Franklin Towne will be quite familiar with these programs, and we are excited about delving even deeper into them in the classroom and utilizing all the resources that come with them.

I would like to implement a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for each child in the classroom. It is important that each and every child has an equal opportunity to better their studies as well as their perceptions of who they are. The students will be offered a chance to express themselves in ways they never thought of before. By years end, each child will have a better understanding of themselves and how special they are. I am looking forward to a great year in the 6th grade!

If there are any questions or concerns you have throughout the upcoming school year, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Best regards,
Mr. McKeever
