National Junior Honor Society

The FTCES chapter was founded to recognize and celebrate exemplary Towne members who have succeeded in areas beyond honor roll. Towne NJHS students exude the characteristics of the five pillars of the Nation Honor Society: scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. With the help of our school community, our service projects completed throughout the school year to improve the Towne community. Service Projects include a food drive at Thanksgiving, Giving Tree during the holiday season, and weekly peer tutoring. Additional activities and service projects may be organized according to the wishes of our officers and members.
Requirements for Consideration for Membership:
  • Students must be in 7th or 8th grade to be considered.
  • Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.25.
Selection Process:
Eligibility is based on a student's GPA. During the 1st Marking Period, eligible students are invited to complete an activities form detailing how he or she participates in school and community organizations, leadership roles, and service (sports, clubs, scouts, religious organizations, volunteer services, etc.). Student responses are then considered for acceptance into NJHS. The faculty council also seeks information from current and previous teachers regarding the quality of the character and performance of the students under consideration. Students who are selected for induction will receive a letter informing them of the ceremony.
